How to book on a ride

You no longer need to book in advance for a ride, unless you need to borrow a bike but while Covid restrictions apply, you must supply a contact number for test & trace.

WDCF rides are FREE but there may be a charge for the car park.

We have a limited number of bikes to borrow but they must be booked in advance via info@cycling-wakefield.org.uk

Which ride to choose

The rides are of varied lengths and difficulty. We will always ride at the pace to suit the least experienced rider. No-one is ever left behind. We use traffic free routes & some minor roads. Most rides are suited to hybrid or mountain bikes.

Bad Weather

The weather doesn’t usually stop a ride but in wet weather some routes may be muddy and uneven. The ride leaders are always waiting at the start point so don’t be put off, just dress for the weather.

What to bring

No specific requirements, but it is always useful to bring:

  • Yourself, friends & family
  • A roadworthy bike
  • Suitable clothing
  • A bottle of water
  • We also recommend that you wear a cycle helmet.

Events Calendar

The committee of Wakefield District Cycle Forum has decided that it would be unwise for the Forum to attend local galas or run the Holiday Wednesday event at Nostell NT this year.

A significant number of our volunteers who run these events are considered to be vulnerable.  That, together with the close contact that activities like cycle skills entail and the need to sanitize equipment between each user, has rendered these events impractical.

We regret the disappointment that this decision will cause but the safety of all concerned must be paramount.

We hope to be back next year.
